Still awesome and even more emotional on second viewing. I also never realized how much I loved the score. There are some parts that drag on rewatch but it’s still one of the best films of the year.

A deep, thoughtful and incredibly exciting sci-fi film and probably the best since Arrival. Brad Pitt gives his second wonderful performance this year as he navigates both the depths of space and the depths of his soul. It’s about letting go and learning to navigate life’s darkest corners. And all of this is explored through an engrossing throwback to sci-fi films of the 70s and 80s like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner with the best cinematography and visual effects of the year along with brilliant production and sound design. It’s one of the best of the year and I can’t wait to see it again to analyze it.
